  • There is hereby established a recreation commission, to be known as the Sylvania-Screven County, Georgia, recreation commission. The commission shall be composed of five persons who shall serve without pay, two of whom shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the council, two by the chairman of the county board of commissioners with the advice and consent of the members of the board, and the fifth shall be appointed by the four members selected by the governing bodies. The terms of office shall be for three years or until their successors are appointed and qualified, except that the members of such commission first appointed by the mayor and council shall serve for a term of three years; the members appointed by the board of commissioners of the county shall serve for a term of two years; and the fifth member selected by the four governmental appointees shall serve for a term of one year. Vacancies on the commission occurring by reason of resignation, death, or expiration of terms shall be filled by the original appointing authority for the vacated position.
